Tulum, Quintana Roo, is set to welcome a new era in travel convenience with the inauguration of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport this Friday. While initially serving domestic flights only, international routes are scheduled to commence from March 2024, as confirmed by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena). Excitingly, operations for international airlines will kick off on March 28, ushering in direct connections to key destinations such as Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas.
Leading carriers like United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and American Airlines will operate flights from Tulum Airport, offering departures from major hubs like Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, and Dallas. Spirit Airlines will also be joining the fray, with flights departing from Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. Then, on March 31, United Airlines will launch services from Newark, Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago. And looking ahead to June, JetBlue is poised to introduce flights from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), further enhancing connectivity between Tulum and the United States' major airports.
Conveniently situated just a 30-minute drive from Tulum town, getting to and from the airport is a breeze. Travelers have several options:
By Car: Enjoy the freedom of the open road with a scenic drive to Tulum in just half an hour.
ADO Bus Services: For those preferring public transport, ADO will provide convenient shuttle services to and from the airport.
Private Taxi: While an option, it's worth noting that private taxis tend to be more expensive.
Maya Train: The airport boasts a connection to the Maya Train, offering seamless travel to Tulum and surrounding destinations.
The Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport represents a significant step forward in enhancing accessibility to one of Mexico's most beloved destinations.Â
